Dichotomy Coffee and Spirits in downtown Waco will close its bar operations at the end of January due to rising costs and falling sales; its coffee shop will remain open to serve locals (after 12 years of offering both coffee and cocktails).

Local baker Raquelle Rivera, owner of Meringue Dreams, is ranked fifth in a national baking contest that supports childhood cancer research; voting ends Wednesday night + the $10,000 prize could help expand her business.

Dichotomy Coffee & Spirits will close its bar section while keeping its coffee shop at 508 Austin Ave downtown by the end of the month.

It has served customers since November 2013.
