- ➤ Two Baylor professors have their film ADO named on this year's Oscar shortlist after wins at four film festivals, making history for local education. The film will screen on Jan. 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Baylor University's Mayborn Museum (1300 S. University Parks Drive) with a discussion panel following. KXXV

- ➤ Waco ISD placed two theatre teachers at Waco High on administrative leave while it investigates reports of misconduct — Fine Arts Director Larry Carpenter will temporarily support the theatre program until a qualified replacement is found. KCENTV

- ➤ Crews working on the $114 million Twin Bridges replacement over Lake Waco reached the city side this week after starting on the northwest side, and work will continue as summer disruption may delay progress. Waco Tribune-Herald
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Baylor’s men’s basketball team won 94-79 against Oklahoma State on Jan. 13 at Gallagher-Iba Arena, earning its first Big 12 win of the season. Tounde Yessoufou led with 23 points and helped the Bears end a three-game skid. KCENTV
- ➤ Baylor softball began spring practice today with head coach Glenn Moore (in his 26th season) leading a young team eager to return to postseason play after last year's setback. The Bears will compete at the Getterman Classic on Feb. 5. KXXV
