COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Waco nonprofits reported a nationwide slide in 2025 giving amid uncertain public funding — and Attas noted it was encouraging to see local support. Groups adjusted their plans to address the funding challenges they faced last year.  Waco Tribune-Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • Historic Waco homes are ready for visitors after limited tours last year; repairs and renovations ended at East Terrace, McCulloch House and Earle-Napier-Kinnard House. Tours begin Friday (Jan. 16).  Waco Tribune-Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two theatre teachers at Waco High School are on administrative leave—an investigation into alleged misconduct is underway while Fine Arts Director Larry Carpenter leads theatre classes for the rest of the school year.  KXXV
  • South Bosque Elementary at Midway placed its principal, Sheri Burns, and assistant principal, Laura Christian, on leave for a non-student issue. District leaders are on campus and school operations continue while the district prepares to share further details.  KXXV
