  • Heart of Texas Goodwill’s Families and Foster Care Coalition launched a campaign called '26 in ’26' to license 26 new foster families by year’s end so 77 local children can remain with nearby services. The group will host monthly meetups at Common Grounds in Woodway + guide interested families.  KCENTV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Waco Hilton is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation that includes complete updates instead of the half-renovation done in 2016, according to general manager Justin Edwards.  Waco Tribune-Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Texas State Technical College (TSTC) has opened a $72M Construction Technologies Center in Waco that still looks like a job site to promote hands-on learning. The facility is now operational for students.  Waco Tribune-Herald
  • Families with students at Atlas Academy have been assured that the advanced academic program will remain unchanged next school year after proposals to level GT courses were questioned. Waco ISD officials said they will maintain its current structure to support student growth.  Waco Tribune-Herald

  • Local baseball star Crush Holloway, born in 1896 and named after a famous local train crash (Crush), played in the Negro Leagues from 1921 to 1939. He became known for his fast running and determination that helped break barriers during segregation.  KCENTV
