  • A new parklet opened Saturday on Washington Ave outside Be Kind Coffee as the first completed Six to Fix project aimed at safer streets downtown. The MPO plans to start five additional demonstration projects in the summer (schedule pending).  KXXV
  • The Waco Rotary Club will host a panel discussion on a $10 billion data center proposed by Infrakey on Monday, Feb. 23 near Lacy Lakeview.  Waco Tribune-Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Speegleville Elementary, one of Midway ISD's oldest schools, may close (declining enrollment and rising costs drive the decision) after a board meeting on Wednesday; students could later be reassigned to South Bosque and Woodway Elementary.  KXXV

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Bears rallied past Arizona State 73-68 on Saturday afternoon at Foster Pavilion after trailing by eight at halftime. Their win, the first comeback since Feb. 1, 2025, sets up a home contest Tuesday at 8 p.m. CT against No. 4 Arizona.  KCENTV
