- ➤ Seattle-based alt-rock band Candlebox will open Brazos Nights, the free concert series in Waco, on April 17 as the season of live music begins. Waco Tribune-Herald
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices have risen steadily in Central Texas since last week as the conflict in Iran drives up fuel costs and demand for summer-blend gas. Local Waco drivers now pay roughly 20 cents more per gallon, causing some businesses to spend nearly $100 per fill-up. KXXV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Midway ISD's board voted on Tuesday (at Woodway headquarters) to close Speegleville Elementary due to budget pressures, enrollment declines, and repair costs; 210 students will join Woodway or South Bosque Elementary next school year, and the move is expected to save $1.2 million to offset a $3 million gap.
