  • On Wed., Mar. 11, visitors to the Cameron Park Zoo saw six new animals arrive, including four camels and two ostriches from the West Texas Wildlife Preserve. The new residents (most named after characters from a well-known film) are now in the African Savanna section.  KCENTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Waco City Council will vote on Tuesday on a $5.5M tax incentive proposal (spread over 10 years) to attract Alamo Steel’s new headquarters. The move aims to boost local economic activity.  Waco Tribune-Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rusty Rowe, a dermatologist at Real Skin Dermatology, urges residents to protect their skin this weekend as a high UV index increases the risk of rapid sun damage, advising the use of hats, protective clothing, and sunscreen (early damage signs can be subtle).  KXXV

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Central Texans can start planning their gardens as spring nears. Corie Tucker of Westview Nursery advises adding compost to boost soil health and delaying tender crops (like tomatoes) until early May to guard against cold weather.  KXXV
