ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters are working to control a large fire at Fort Graham Baptist Church on FM 2604 north of Whitney, and emergency management advises drivers to avoid the area (updates are pending). KXXV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Texans receive over six billion spam calls a year, averaging more than 180 per person, as artificial intelligence drives a growing surge that experts say will worsen. They recommend ignoring unknown numbers (calls may originate from outside U.S. control). KXXV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Today the City of Waco unveiled 12 artist-designed murals on utility boxes along Waco Drive as part of its public art program + local artists received $1,000 each. The murals will brighten the area for three years and a new art submission portal opens this fall. KXXV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Copperas Cove ISD honored 88 top-performing teachers with state-funded pay raises from the Teacher Incentive Allotment program; the awards total over $570,000 a year (locked in for five years) and aim to boost teacher retention across 10 campuses. KXXV
- ➤ Waco ISD approved a three-year deal with Third Future to manage Dean Highland and South Waco elementary schools; the company will receive $11.7 million a year and plans to boost academics in the first year. Waco Tribune-Herald
- ➤ Waco ISD trustees approved an alternative roofing bid for South Waco Elementary School after a three-week deadlock on the administrators' recommendation (the board ended the impasse with the new plan). Waco Tribune-Herald
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Brazos River Authority issued a Stage one drought watch and asked customers to reduce water use by 5% as nine reservoirs, including Stillhouse Hollow Lake 2.5 feet below norm, show lower levels amid dry conditions — officials warn Lake Proctor may face a Stage two warning this summer. KXXV

- ➤ Baylor Athletics hired Dave Harper as Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director and he will manage NIL efforts and revenue strategies during the spring season. He joins from Duquesne University and is expected to enhance Baylor's NIL practices. KXXV
- ➤ Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk visited a park in Waco and signed a skateboard he left for fans. He shared a video of his visit on Instagram, giving one lucky fan a unique piece of skating history. KXXV
