- ➤ A Waco art studio hosted a fundraiser on April 8th to honor U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle and raise funds for local charities. The event, partnered with the American Valor Foundation—founded by Kyle’s family, coincided with what would have been his 50th birthday and included his brother and other family members. KCENTV

- ➤ Amber and Athena Alerts have been issued for 15-year-old Aunastasia Herrera and 14-year-old Natalia Herrera—two sisters from Waco last seen in Temple and Woodway after leaving home voluntarily—with Temple, Woodway and Waco police working together as they search for the girls believed to be at high risk. - ➤ A man aged 31 from Bellmead is in jail on charges for secretly recording a child in a bathtub and is accused of storing 21 pictures and four videos that police say show child pornography—he was already charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and his bond was set at $126,000. FOX 44

- ➤ Today, the Healthy Hive Foundation and Round Rock Honey bring the Talking Bees Roadshow to the Central Library at 1717 Austin Ave from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Families can join free hands-on activities—like live demos and tasting honey samples—that show how bees help our food supply. KCENTV
- ➤ Hallsburg ISD Superintendent Dr. Douglas Marvin resigned after his arrest for public intoxication on February 2nd when his doctor determined that an adverse reaction to prescribed medication led to the incident— the board said it will begin searching for a new superintendent. KXXV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TxDOT began a four-year, $114 million project to replace the Twin Bridges over Lake Waco with new structures that will have wider shoulders and three lanes in each direction—this work will affect highway and lake traffic. Drivers should note that the U-turn near Speegleville Park exit will be closed daily from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. this coming Friday. KXXV
