- ➤ The Heart O’ Texas Fair & Rodeo in Waco will hold its Scholar Recognition Banquet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29 at BASE at Extraco Events Center—where record-breaking scholarships will be awarded to Central Texas students. KCENTV

- ➤ Robinson ISD was named one of the top three winners in the Texas Association of School Boards Student Video Contest — earning a $5,000 prize — with its video highlighting student character. Students and teachers involved will be honored on May 19 at 6 p.m. at Robinson Junior High Library. FOX 44
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Meteorologist Caleb Chevalier said that although Lake Waco is not full, current water levels are enough to meet rising water demands+water managers have planned steps to secure the supply. He added that the lake continues to provide water for many local residents. KXXV

- ➤ A major project is underway to update Waco’s twin bridges with a $114 million makeover that will add shoulders and extra lanes for safety improvements. Orion Construction began preliminary work beneath the bridge today while TxDOT said major traffic changes will start next year and work will continue until 2029. KCENTV

- ➤ Preliminary market-value home appraisals countywide increased by 2.4% over last year's values while some areas like Hewitt and Woodway saw declines—property owners can begin informal protests Monday with formal hearings set for May 13. Waco Tribune-Herald

- ➤ Waco welcomes the new DinkDen Pickleball Club opened by three local brothers, which features six indoor courts open daily (8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. on Sundays). A tournament (Waco Paddle Battle) is set for July 8 with sessions at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and a $200 team entry fee. KCENTV
- ➤ Kyle Youmans, a 2014 Midway graduate, has worked as the official on-air host for Dallas Cowboys programming since 2020 and produces pregame and postgame shows.
