- ➤ In an effort to help kids avoid summer slide, KCEN 6 News Community Book Drive collects new and gently used books from multiple drop-off sites until April 24. Community members can join the in-person donation event on Friday, April 24 at the STEAM Center in Waco. KCENTV
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Rising fuel costs are straining budgets for Waco ISD and non-profit Shepherd’s Heart as diesel climbs 84% and unleaded 47% — the district will increase its fuel budget next year while the non-profit now spends $500 a week on delivery trucks, up from $200. KXXV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ La Vega athletes Cemaria Kelly and Hannah Linstorm signed to continue academic and athletic careers at Blinn College & Hardin-Simmons during a ceremony held Wednesday morning at La Vega High. Both will study nursing as they move forward. KCENTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Waco Regional Airport conducted a large-scale plane crash simulation last Wednesday morning with 100+ volunteers to test first responders' readiness, including skills in handling injuries and transporting service animals. The exercise met FAA requirements and the next drill is scheduled for 2029. KXXV
