ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities responded to a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on southbound Highway 6 near Hallsburg—two pickup trucks and an 18 wheeler collided and a witness said a man received CPR in the road.  FOX 44

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local Chick-fil-A owner Jake Roye opened his third restaurant on Creekview Drive in a new complex with Cinemark and Topgolf, and Paw Community—located at 515 New Dallas Highway—won a local business pitch competition for its off-leash dog park and grooming services. The Texas Comptroller announced a tax holiday on emergency goods from Saturday to Monday—while M. Lipsitz & Co. will pay 80 cents per pound for aluminum cans during Earth Day week.  Waco Tribune-Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • Waco Catholics and local church leaders remembered Pope Francis after he passed away early Monday morning, saying he showed great humility and care for the poor. Sister Barbara Herrera and others stressed that his life set a true example for service.  KXXV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Baylor University said a small number of its international students had their immigration status terminated (for reasons such as protest actions, arrests, or a criminal records check) as part of a federal move. McLennan Community College said two international students were affected and both schools are offering legal help and guidance in this evolving situation.  KXXV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Texas Department of Transportation will spend $8.6M to resurface a 5-mile stretch of road between Valley Mills Drive and Business 77—replacing the concrete with new asphalt.  Waco Tribune-Herald
  • Waco PD held an active shooter training session yesterday at Park Lake Drive Baptist Church with about six local residents to learn how to stay safe — the course was organized by the North Waco Neighborhood Association as part of its 2025 safety theme and led by Detective Anita Gomez, who emphasized knowing exits, locking doors and following commands when law enforcement arrives.  KCENTV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Waco ISD named Charles Foster as the new head football coach and athletic coordinator at University High School. He began as defensive coordinator in August 2023—helping the Trojans win more than seven games and improve their defense, and his experience is expected to boost the school's athletic programs.  KXXV
