ECONOMY NEWS

  • Residents enjoy tax-free shopping on batteries, flashlights, and phone chargers during the Texas Emergency Preparedness Supplies Sales Tax Holiday (a program that helps families prepare for severe weather), which ends Monday.  KXXV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Middle school teams from La Vega and Waco ISDs — Texas' two qualifiers — will compete in the National History Day competition this summer as they work to represent their community nationally.  Waco Tribune-Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Baylor quarterback Sawyer Robertson signed with the Raiders after going undrafted, finishing his final season with 3,681 yards, 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The Lubbock native will join the team today—his move adds depth to the Raiders’ quarterback room.  KXXV
  • Former Connally Cadet and current Texas Longhorn Jelani McDonald hosted a youth football camp today at Cadet Field, where 115 kids practiced drills and learned about leadership and teamwork.  KXXV
  • Baylor Acrobatics and Tumbling clinched its 11th NCATA National Championship today, keeping its winning streak alive. The team will compete in the new NCAA season in 2027 (marking a shift in the sport's structure).  KXXV
  • Baylor tight end Michael Trigg signed with the Dallas Cowboys today after going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft (he had 50 catches, 694 yards and 6 touchdowns last season for the Bears). The Tampa native will remain in Texas.  KXXV
