- ➤ On May 3, the Granny Basketball League hosted its second annual game at Highlands Gym at McLennan Community College where women aged 50 and older played six-on-six using 1920s era rules to benefit the Friends for Life organization—The Six Shooters beat the Famous Friends 48–29 and organizers plan to schedule next year’s tournament. - ➤ Waco businessman Taylor Bledsoe won the District 4 seat on the Waco ISD Board of Trustees on Saturday—defeating McLennan Community College professor Peaches Henry. Waco Tribune-Herald

- ➤ A new bill was passed to help Central Texas get better water access — the measure will improve water systems in Bell and McLennan counties. KCENTV
- ➤ Gov. Abbott signed controversial Senate Bill 2 on Saturday—this law lets families use state funds for private school tuition through a $1 billion program that many say will expand school choice. KCENTV
- ➤ McLennan County election officials remind voters to bring one of seven acceptable forms of ID and follow strict rules at polling places—voters must avoid cell phone use, firearms, and any electioneering within 100 feet. The county expects between 10,000 and 15,000 voters to cast their ballots while keeping the environment nonpartisan. KXXV
