- ➤ Cameron Park Zoo celebrated the birth of its first black-footed cat kitten born to parents Gaia and Finn on April 7 (fewer than 30 such births occur in zoos nationwide each year) and the zoo staff is hand-rearing the kitten with round-the-clock care. KCENTV

- ➤ Local restoration efforts led by the Bell County Historical Commission are refurbishing historic markers along FM 2843 near Salado, including at the Willingham Spring Baptist Church. The work, which takes about 2 hours per marker (preserving them for roughly 15 years), will continue this year with planned marker parties. KCENTV
