  • The annual Waco Police Memorial Run will take place on May 17 at Cameron Park’s Redwood Shelter to honor officers killed in the line of duty. Organized by the Waco Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, last year’s event had more than 200 participants + early registration is now available with same-day sign-ups offered.  KCENTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • China Spring art teacher Bradley Settles and senior Vivienne Nunez stressed the importance of keeping the arts in schools as state law requires one year of arts in middle and high school for graduation. Starting September 1, Texas House Bill 172 will add funding to support fine arts courses for students from 6th to 12th grade.  KXXV
  • Michael E. Young, a professor in psychological sciences and the graduate program, was named vice provost and dean of Baylor University Graduate School—he will lead academic programs and oversee administrative tasks—at Baylor in Waco.  Waco Tribune-Herald
