- ➤ The Waco YMCA is preparing a summer camp program that will offer full-day indoor and outdoor activities to help kids learn new skills and have fun while they are watched over by dedicated staff. The program will also include mindfulness time to support children with difficult feelings—organizers say it provides parents with dependable childcare during summer break. FOX 44
- ➤ Waco-McLennan County Library started its annual Mayor’s Summer Reading Challenge with registration open online and at library branches—families and individuals can log any reading using the Beanstack app to earn prizes such as water park passes and laser tag games. The program runs from June 1 to July 31 and invites readers of all ages to enjoy summer with books. FOX 44

- ➤ Jorge Abdiel Carmona-Trejo, a student at Harmony School of Innovation in Waco, has been selected for the NASA-funded SEES summer internship at UT Austin's Center for Space Research. He will begin remote coursework soon and join other interns on July 6 for hands-on research, facility tours, and mentorship. KXXV

- ➤ Texas Sen. John Cornyn met with business owners in Waco to talk about jobs and investing in local companies — TxDOT set a new speed limit of 40 mph on Spring Valley in Hewitt. Local schools began offering free breakfast and lunches to children — a new help for families. KXXV
- ➤ Four finalists for Waco's new fire chief began a two-day in-person interview process Tuesday, with candidates including the current interim chief (Robby Bergerson) and applicants from Saudi Arabia, Laredo, and Houston. The City Council will soon review City Manager Bradley Ford’s recommendation before making a final decision. Waco Tribune-Herald
