- ➤ Texas Parks+Wildlife will host Free Fishing Day this Saturday at Buena Vista Park at 2001 Madera Drive, where families can fish in a stocked pond+enjoy the playground and picnic areas while following standard fishing rules. Texans will not need a license to join the event, which invites people of all ages to try fishing. KXXV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Emergency crews responded to a major crash on FM 219 near Clifton early Thursday—causing multiple injuries and blocking the road for several hours as investigators worked the scene and motorists were advised to take alternate routes. KXXV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Robinson High School students are learning welding skills at a free month-long boot camp at The WorkSITE in Waco — the new training facility opened in February. The program, a partnership among Texas State Technical College, McLennan County and the city, runs through June 30 and uses a condensed curriculum taught by TSTC instructor Zac Cox. FOX 44

- ➤ On Thursday morning, Waco police and first responders conducted planned active threat training near St. Louis Catholic Church and Reicher High School along Windsor Avenue—section between 23rd and 25th streets was closed as emergency vehicles, sirens and simulated ammunition sounds were used. - ➤ Waco PD Commander Melissa Thompson graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on Thursday — fewer than one percent of officers nationwide are chosen for this prestigious program. FOX 44
