- ➤ Speakers and community members gathered Tuesday evening at Indian Spring Park to show solidarity with Los Angeles protesters and to oppose current immigration policies. The rally was hosted by PSL (with support from local groups Waco Immigration Alliance and Para Todos Waco) and more similar events are expected. KXXV

- ➤ Bellmead Police Department said a vehicle struck a mailbox and fence on San Pedro Street on Sunday while driving recklessly and is asking anyone with tips to call Detective Harker at 254-799-0251—reference case 25-00570. FOX 44
- ➤ A federal grand jury indicted a Waco man on a weapons charge Tuesday after he was accused of shooting a police dog last month. Waco Tribune-Herald
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Saturday's Juneteenth parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Heritage Square and follow Washington and Elm to the old Paul Quinn College campus, with about 500 participants including local bands and a championship basketball team serving as marshals. The day will feature film screenings, a theater piece and a hair-design contest along with after-party cookouts at McLane Stadium and a community block party at Wilbert Austin Sr. Park — events that add to the growing celebration. - ➤ The Greater Waco YMCA says they are hiring more workers this summer to meet rising demand—especially lifeguards for its three pools—and will add more full-time positions in the fall. Challenger, Gray and Christmas Inc. predicts teen job growth will drop this summer due to economic concerns. KXXV

- ➤ Lawmakers passed bills that boost our power grid with new rules allowing ERCOT to cut power to large users during emergencies and an extra $5B for power projects, including $350M for nuclear energy—while plans to restrict solar, wind, and battery storage did not pass. KXXV
