- ➤ Waco PD is gearing up for its Back to School Bash, an event that will give away thousands of backpacks filled with school supplies and offer games for students from elementary to high school. Donations can be dropped off at the department (3115 Pine Avenue) until July 24. FOX 44
- ➤ Waco Pet Circle Regional Animal Shelter is operating at 144% capacity with 220 dogs in a facility built for 189. The shelter is waiving adoption fees and asking locals to help by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating—an effort to ease rising costs and overcrowding. KXXV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Moody approved a new safety plan to control loose dogs and improve public safety using the Savvy Citizen app to send real-time alerts and set up a temporary holding enclosure—police have begun issuing warnings and citations to repeat offenders. Dogs will be held for up to 72 hours before being transferred to the Waco Animal Shelter. KXXV
