ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A woman died in a crash when a 35-year-old motorcyclist collided with a turning Prius at N. 46th Street and Bosque Boulevard Monday at 10:22 a.m.—Waco police said no arrests have been made—and her next of kin were notified.  FOX 44

  • Roni’s Mac Bar grew from a viral mac-and-cheese video that helped it add four new sites across Texas and other states + Bubba’s 33 named Ace as its bald eagle mascot and will donate all profits from dine-in and to-go orders Wednesday to the American Eagle Foundation. Uptown Cheapskate will lease 6,500 square feet at Webster Market while Wienerschnitzel plans to open near Dutch Bros. Coffee and Fleetwood Homes rebrands as Cavco-Waco as new permits were issued in Waco + these moves signal fresh local business growth.  Waco Tribune-Herald

CRIME NEWS

  • A 42-year-old man told police he found a package with a marriage certificate showing he was married without his knowledge when a 36-year-old woman convinced a pastor to hold the ceremony and filed the license (without the groom present), and she was arrested on felony stalking charges after police located her near Hewitt.  FOX 44

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Waco Independent Film Festival will run July 17-20 at downtown venues in Waco, offering film screenings, discussions and a red carpet press party. The event will feature a range of films (including the opening night showing of A Christmas in New Hope and the closing night presentation of The Ego Death of Queen Cecilia) along with panel discussions and live tours.  KXXV
  • The Humane Society of Central Texas is hosting Woofstock this Saturday at The Backyard Bar, Stage & Grill with live music, interactive art displays and fun activities from 4 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Ticket sales help fund animal care programs—attendees may enter an Air Guitar contest for a $500 cash prize.  FOX 44

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local student Grant Herridge, a rising Baylor class of 2029 freshman who died after falling near a 50-foot waterfall at Olympic National Park earlier this month, is honored with a new scholarship fund—funeral services have been announced in his memory. Visitations will be held at Baylor University on Wednesday, June 18 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the memorial is set for Friday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m.  KXXV

  • The McLennan County Alzheimer’s Expo will take place Tuesday, June 24th from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at First Woodway Baptist Church — 101 Ritchie Road, where more than 40 exhibitors will offer free resources through private consultations, breakout sessions, interactive experiences and a panel discussion.  FOX 44
