- ➤ More than 30 cadets graduated from Central Texas College's police academy in Killeen on June 27 at 10 a.m.—their graduation marked a key step toward a law enforcement career. In Waco, Brick Store Waco opened a new Lego resale shop at Richland Mall at 10 a.m.—the Feed the Need food drive accepted its final donations after nearly $3,000 was raised. KXXV

- ➤ Culinary arts students at Texas State Technical College have transformed their classroom into a working restaurant at the Greta Watson Culinary Arts Building in Waco—serving a weekly rotating menu that includes dishes like Kenyan cuisine. REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Developers planning the 1,887-home Riverway subdivision in Waco received approval this week for the first phase of 327 single-family homes and a new cottage design, and Wednesday the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality approved a municipal management district that can levy extra taxes to fund nearly $70 million in infrastructure. The project along the Brazos River, about two miles from downtown, will include diverse housing, a private marina, and park space, with construction set to last over the next decade — property owners in the district will pay the added tax. - ➤ Baylor Bears voice John Morris said he is excited after VJ Edgecombe was picked third overall by the Philadelphia 76ers, marking the highest a Baylor Bear has ever been selected in the NBA draft.
