  • Blue, a dog missing since Hurricane Harvey in 2017, was reunited with her Corpus Christi family at Waco’s Pet Circle Regional Animal Center—found in a public bathroom at Cameron Park and scanned using a microchip—after nearly eight years.  FOX 44

CRIME NEWS

  • Bellmead police arrested a man accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend at her workplace—he then drove her away, according to an arrest affidavit.  Waco Tribune-Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 9th Annual Waco Independent Film Festival expects 1,200 to 1,500 attendees, with 80% being local residents, as the Grand Lodge opens its space as a new venue partner. Festival artistic director Samuel Thomas said organizers are finalizing plans—including film screenings, panels, and parties—after selecting 20 films from 120 submissions.  KXXV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, TxDOT launched its Be Safe. Drive Smart. campaign in Waco to urge drivers to slow down in school and work zones and adjust speed for road conditions. Law enforcement will crack down on speeding from July 18th to August 3rd—aiming for zero crashes and fatalities.  FOX 44
  • McLennan County residents are invited to apply for the fall 2025 Citizen's Police Academy — a 12-week course that teaches police work through classroom lessons and hands-on demonstrations beginning August 28. Applicants must complete a criminal background check and submit their forms by August 22.  City of Waco
