- ➤ Since Friday, planned maintenance and water releases have caused water level fluctuations at Lake Brazos and closed boat ramps at Brazos Park East; local business Sunshine Paddle Adventures is monitoring the river conditions (impacts are expected to continue through the second week of August) while city officials urge extra caution near the water. - ➤ Today, Waco ISD Family Fest begins at University High School at 7 a.m. with a Superintendent’s Superhero Run and school support services, while the Waco Police Department hosts a Back to School Bash at the Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Friday, July 25—Killeen offered a free outdoor screening of Wall-E with popcorn, games and giveaways provided. - ➤ U.S. Marshals arrested suspect Cristino Rocha on Tuesday in Waco for a 2023 California murder and booked him into McLennan County Jail (authorities now await an extradition request). KXXV
- ➤ Fritz Eugene Case, 54, was arrested today in Mart when police executed a narcotics search warrant at the 200 Block of South Smyth Street after a Facebook post challenging law enforcement led to charges—he is now held on two felony warrants with a $12,000 bond. FOX 44

- ➤ County judges, school leaders and law enforcement met with Congressman Pete Sessions Friday to discuss school safety for the new school year. Sessions said a closed meeting showed that clear planning—knowing each role—is needed to keep schools safe. KXXV
