- ➤ Sky Zone will move into the former Burlington site at 5050 W. Waco Drive with construction starting this month for a February opening + Shipley Do-Nuts has a new owner from a California firm that runs nine local stores. Pilot will add EV chargers at its travel center, Ascension Providence earned Newsweek plaudit, an equipment manufacturers bus tour will visit Diversified Product Development on Aug. 14 from 8 to 10 a.m., Gov. Abbott will speak at the State of the State Luncheon on Sept. 3 at the Baylor Club, and downtown redevelopment plans need voter approval. Waco Tribune-Herald

- ➤ Bellmead Police are investigating criminal mischief at Brame Park after restrooms were spray painted over the weekend—keeping the facilities closed—and the city is offering a $1000 reward for tips leading to an arrest. KXXV
- ➤ Waco Police arrested David Rodriguez (20) and Jakari Jordan (18) on August 4th after an officer fired his weapon near South 14th Street during a robbery investigation when Jordan pointed a firearm at him, fled on foot, was caught, and no injuries were reported with further charges pending. - ➤ Waco City Council approved rezoning for the Hilltop Heights 63-home development in East Waco on Tuesday amid local concerns about traffic and tree removal—final plans will be approved on August 19. KXXV
- ➤ Federal charges against Noe Guerrero were dropped Friday afternoon, but he remains in ICE custody at Montgomery Processing Center as protests have erupted in McLennan County—local officials say he had proper documentation stored in his truck. KXXV
