  • Laura Witt organizes March for Jesus today at Suspension Bridge in Waco— the event includes music, prayer, and a baptism setup with walkers following a trail to Pecan Bottoms Park.  KXXV

  • Baylor football games at McLane Stadium boost spending for local restaurants and hotels as game weekends help drive up to $500K in tax collections—supporting about $2–3 million in seasonal earnings for Waco.  KXXV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Rep. David Cook held a meet-and-greet event Tuesday in Waco to launch his Senate campaign—he stressed issues like property taxes and mental health—while Jon Gimble, who recently stepped down as McLennan County district clerk, plans his first event next week; if both remain in the race through the Nov. 8 to Dec. 8 filing period, the March 3 GOP primary will decide who represents District 22.   Waco Tribune-Herald
  • Waco is beginning its transition to a new landfill in less than two weeks as city trucks start using the transfer station on University Parks Drive—city trucks will operate from Oct. 1 while the current landfill remains open for about six months.
