ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Aug. 30 in Galveston Bay, 8-year-old Harper from a Waco family suffered a shark bite when her grandmother pulled her to shore—her uncle quickly used his T-shirt as a tourniquet and she was taken first to urgent care then to UTMB after a fever set in, with relatives later catching sharks to cook a meal in line with her 'revenge bite' wish. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lacy Lakeview residents raised concerns last week at a city council meeting about a proposed concrete batch plant at 408 South Lacy Drive because they worry about air quality, noise, and road damage. LGS Precast said the facility will follow TCEQ guidelines while an adjacent apartment complex hired attorneys (objecting to the permit) and a Texas senator requested a public meeting. KXXV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Baylor football lost to Arizona State 27 to 24 at McLane Stadium after a field goal in the closing minute gave the Bears a 2 to 2 season record — the defense made key stops while the offense struggled. The team will try to bounce back when they face Oklahoma State on September 27 at 2:30 p.m. KXXV
- ➤ Baylor football begins conference play today against Arizona State — its first Big 12 matchup since 1990 — and the Bears hope to extend their win streak after wins over SMU and Samford while avenging last year's overtime loss to Colorado. KXXV
