ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An athlete died during the swim portion of the IRONMAN 70.3 Waco triathlon Sunday after water safety personnel provided immediate aid and the participant was later pronounced dead at a hospital—organizers confirmed the death and offered condolences.  KXXV
  • A Little River Academy seventh grader suffered a fractured skull in a go-kart crash when a side-by-side collided with his vehicle (he had surgery, was released last Friday, and is now recovering at home as the football team wears his jersey number on helmet stickers).  KCENTV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo is running from Oct. 2 through Oct. 12, drawing more than 200,000 visitors and generating over $70 million in revenue for the local economy. Organizers say the event supports over 500 contract jobs and more than 90 vendors—boosting business in Waco.  KXXV
