- ➤ An athlete died during the swim portion of the IRONMAN 70.3 Waco triathlon Sunday after water safety personnel provided immediate aid and the participant was later pronounced dead at a hospital—organizers confirmed the death and offered condolences. KXXV
- ➤ A Little River Academy seventh grader suffered a fractured skull in a go-kart crash when a side-by-side collided with his vehicle (he had surgery, was released last Friday, and is now recovering at home as the football team wears his jersey number on helmet stickers). KCENTV

- ➤ The Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo is running from Oct. 2 through Oct. 12, drawing more than 200,000 visitors and generating over $70 million in revenue for the local economy. Organizers say the event supports over 500 contract jobs and more than 90 vendors—boosting business in Waco. KXXV
