- ➤ Rabbi Sabine Meyer of Temple Rodef Sholom in Waco said the community welcomed the peace deal between Israel and Hamas as a needed first step after two years of conflict—she added that the plan remains just an outline for future progress. The local temple holds on to hope for a secure future for both Israelis and Palestinians. KXXV

- ➤ At Reliable Coins in Woodway, owner Shane Pack said that gold and silver prices have doubled since March 2024, with gold going from $2,200 to over $4,000 per ounce and silver rising from $25 to $50. Pack explained that less available supply and a growing distrust in the U.S. dollar are driving the sharp rise—making it a key market change for buyers and sellers. KXXV
- ➤ Lightstream Presents acquired The Backyard Bar Stage and Grill last month and will upgrade its audio and visual systems for events in 2025. The founding operators (Chris, Chris and Brian) will continue running the venue until year’s end as the new owners plan a fresh event lineup. KCENTV

- ➤ Waco’s sales taxes rose 7% year-over-year after funds were collected at a Cross Canadian Ragweed reunion show and Baylor’s season opener against Auburn in August—supporting October’s tax rebates for the area. Waco Tribune-Herald

- ➤ More than 100 high school students and counselors visited TSTC to view its electrical construction, electrical power and controls, linework and instrumentation programs—an event offering a real look at high-power training opportunities. Waco Tribune-Herald
- ➤ Captain Atom — the new mascot of the Bledsoe-Miller STEAM Center — comes to life in a video series that shows local learners how science, technology, engineering, arts and math can be fun. The center will open in January and offer hands-on labs and flexible classrooms. City of Waco
- ➤ China Spring junior Laney Swaim earned a $2,500 scholarship after placing reserve overall at a competitive pig show at the Heart O’ Texas Fair and Rodeo—she competed in Friday’s gilt show, is in a scramble swine show today, and will join Sunday’s premium swine show. KXXV

- ➤ Deputy Matt Jones, who died in 2019 while helping a motorist, was honored in a highway dedication on Highway 7 by the Falls County Sheriff’s Office on Friday. The office is also creating a mural to remember him and other fallen officers—preserving his legacy. KXXV
