BUSINESS NEWS

  • Bryan Mayor Bobby Gutierrez said talks to bring a Waffle House to the Brazos Valley are underway, with plans depending on reaching six locations in cities like College Station, Navasota, and Hempstead. TAMU students expressed excitement for the new dining option—official decisions are still pending.  KXXV

CRIME NEWS

  • Commissioner D.L. Wilson said crews spent about $2000 to remove over 1,000 pounds of trash dumped on Wilson Road in McLennan County—residents are urged to report future incidents as offenders may face up to two years in jail and fines up to $10,000.  KXXV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Dr Pepper Museum in Waco announced it will debut a 23‑foot‑tall Big Bottle in its courtyard in May 2026 — part of its 35th Birthday Bash celebration. Museum officials say the iconic structure will celebrate more than 140 years of refreshment history — a highlight expected to draw visitors.  KXXV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • SNAP rules will change in November as new work requirements extend benefits to adults up to 64 and remove exemptions for veterans, homeless individuals and foster youth in Waco. If the federal shutdown continues past October 27, all benefits will be suspended—putting millions of Texans at risk.  KXXV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three Central Texas football players are in the running for KCEN’s Player of the Week as Jaxson Blancett led his team, Jabarie Thornton recorded over 100 receiving yards with two touchdowns, and Tyriq Scott scored three touchdowns. Fans can vote on Twitter (at @KCENSports) until Sunday and the winner will be announced on Wednesday.  KCENTV
