- ➤ Waco Restaurant Week lets local diners try fixed-price menus at over 50 restaurants offering new food options like Mexican, Italian (and Jamaican) dishes, and the event runs through November 1. KXXV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Connally ISD warned students and parents as vandalism in school facilities increased, with damage to bathrooms and academic resources sparking disciplinary actions and repair costs billed to parents—staff stress that keeping schools safe and functional remains a priority. KCENTV
- ➤ Fairfield High School will march today at 10:45 a.m. at McLane Stadium in Waco during the UIL State Military Band Championships. Rosebud-Lott and China Spring are advancing to state—Rosebud-Lott performing at 12 p.m. on Nov. 4 and China Spring at 12:45 p.m. on Nov. 5—at the Alamodome in the UIL State Marching Band Competition. - ➤ Baylor's Homecoming Week began Oct. 27 and will run through Nov. 1 with campus events including a worship service on Monday night, an Alumni Awards ceremony on Oct. 30, and a parade that starts at 7 a.m. in downtown Waco on Saturday, leading to a tailgate and a football game against the UCF Knights. The tailgate is set to begin at noon near McLane Stadium as the celebrations continue through the week. KXXV

- ➤ The federal government shutdown has left 3.5M Texans without SNAP benefits as USDA said funds are exhausted and no November help will be provided—forcing families like Kassidey Perez’s to depend on food pantries while lawmakers work to restore assistance. KXXV
