This Saturday, downtown Waco will host a Dia de los Muertos celebration with a 4pm parade — marking the finale of Restaurant Week and featuring local vendors sharing traditional foods and customs.

Organizers say the event honors nearly three thousand years of heritage and invites both residents and visitors to join the celebration.

Darryl Payne Jr., a Temple resident and former Baylor track athlete, is training in skeleton to become the first African American man to represent Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics — he hopes his journey will encourage black youth to try winter sports.
