- ➤ Waco resident Shirley Sims honors her late husband Sgt. Louis Sims Sr. by organizing events for local veterans; she said her husband (a Vietnam War veteran) passed away 10 years ago and now she works to support those who served our country. KXXV
- ➤ Operation Turkey, a Killeen-based nonprofit, will serve 2,000 Thanksgiving meals to families in need across Killeen, Harker Heights and Copperas Cove on November 26 to 27—organizers are seeking volunteers, sponsors and donations to support the effort. KCENTV

- ➤ Waco ISD trustees approved state-mandated turnaround plans for 5 schools & improvement plans for another 5 last week after the district failed accountability scores, aiming to avoid a state takeover. Waco Tribune-Herald
- ➤ Midway ISD voters passed $83.5 million in bonds to boost local school funding, while China Spring ISD voters approved a tax measure to add $2.2 million for operations. Both measures were approved by a comfortable margin and give the districts stronger budgets for the coming year. Waco Tribune-Herald
