EDUCATION NEWS

  • TEA announced on Thursday that state-appointed managers will replace Connally ISD’s board and a conservator+superintendent will be named soon to address the district’s failing accountability ratings.  Waco Tribune-Herald
  • Wade Bowen, a Waco native, helped deliver a truckload of gifts with University High School students at South Waco Elementary (for the 17th annual Make a Wish Come True program started by late coach Mike Chapman) on Thursday. The event aimed to serve 500 students from local elementary and middle schools.  Waco Tribune-Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Texas AG Commissioner Sid Miller announced a $12 billion federal aid package for U.S. crop farmers that will support local growers and favor soy bean farmers. Payment amounts based on acreage will be set by month’s end with funds due by Feb. 28.  KXXV

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • West Lake Village will add 1,223 single-family homes + commercial spaces to a 568-acre site near Lake Waco, with parks, trails and utility improvements planned. City officials say the project is expected to boost property tax revenue as it unfolds.  KXXV
