Pomp, Parade, and Patriotism: The Story of Independence Day, CTGS Program

About this event

As the nation approaches America's 250th anniversary, join us for a look back at the origins of Independence Day and how Americans have celebrated the Fourth of July through the centuries. From early patriotic observances to the traditions we recognize today, this presentation explores the history behind the holiday including John Adams's famous prediction of celebrations filled with "pomp and parade." We'll also discuss meaningful ways families can preserve their own Fourth of July memories and traditions for future generations, connecting personal stories to our shared national history.
