  • Students, staff and families at Kendrick Elementary School rode the bike bus to Pecan Bottoms at Cameron Park on Tuesday to celebrate National Bike Month.  Waco Tribune-Herald
  • Chip Gaines, a Waco resident and Magnolia star, visited the Hoof Haven Sanctuary in Gatesville on Wednesday and surprised its founder Jason Shields—a U.S. veteran who now rescues horses—with a $70,000 Bobcat compact track loader to support the sanctuary’s farm work.  KXXV

CRIME NEWS

  • Baylor University said yesterday it is investigating reports of two cats found hanging from telephone lines near campus and is coordinating with the Waco Police Department—supported by its internal teams—to determine if any students are involved.  FOX 44

  • On May 21, the City of Waco Communications & Marketing Department won six Telly Awards for its video productions — including entries like the Penguin Shores Exhibit and an animal shelter project. The awards, which are recognized worldwide for marketing excellence, highlight the department’s creative work for local residents.  City of Waco
  • McLennan County officials backed the new Central Texas Water Alliance (CTWA), a transformative regional water authority created by Governor Greg Abbott through Senate Bill 1194. County Judge Scott M. Felton said the alliance (uniting local counties, cities and water districts) will help secure the region's water future.  FOX 44

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Waco-McLennan County Public Health District confirmed the county’s second measles case today in an unvaccinated minor—a close household contact of the initial case—and said both patients are isolating at home with no known public exposures.  KXXV

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Today, Waco Surf introduced three new toddler-friendly water slides to boost family fun, and owner Mike Schwaab said local families have quickly taken notice—children run back to slide again after each ride. The water park will stay open for the summer season until Sept.7 as it also updates its menu offerings.  KCENTV
