- ➤ A California murder suspect was arrested in Waco on July 22 after nearly two years on the run in connection with the May 2023 shooting death of Paul Fierro in Fresno — local police and U.S. Marshals carried out the joint operation and booked him into McLennan County Jail. KCENTV

- ➤ Congressman Sessions holds a closed-door meeting today at 1 p.m. with county judges, school leaders, and law enforcement to review school safety plans for the upcoming academic year (China Spring ISD is among those involved) and stress that careful planning can help avoid tragedies like Uvalde. - ➤ Robby Bergerson has been named Waco’s 15th fire chief and brings over 32 years of firefighting experience, including 28 years in Waco.
