  • Ripley’s Believe It or Not! World Entertainment acquired three Texas Hawaiian Falls water parks in Mansfield, Roanoke and Waco from ProParks Attractions Group on Tuesday. The parks feature water slides, lazy rivers and wave pools and remain open on weekends and select dates through Sept. 14.  KCENTV

  • Mexia mother Esmeralda Castle demands accountability from the U.S. Navy after her daughter Angelina Resendiz—a 21-year-old seaman found near Naval Station Norfolk—died under circumstances she says were worsened by a delayed missing person alert and a sailor’s previous misconduct, and she calls for systemic change to protect service member safety.  KXXV
  • A Waco woman, arrested in a June stabbing, is back in jail after a man reported she threatened to kill him — officers later found her carrying a gun over the weekend.  Waco Tribune-Herald

  • Midway ISD is asking parents to sign a new Senate Bill 12 consent form by Sept. 1 so their children can get school health care—without it, students cannot receive non-emergency treatment.  KCENTV
  • Live Oak Classical School will renovate the 157-year-old Fort House to serve as a welcoming front entrance for prospective students and families—McNamee said the update will showcase the school’s offerings.  Waco Tribune-Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Robinson city leaders voted to raise the property tax rate to about 51 cents per $100 to help pay for $22.5 million in road repairs and a new ladder truck — local business owners support the move while some residents worry it will increase costs.  KXXV
  • Woodway leaders approved a slight property tax bump on Monday that raised rates by six-tenths of a cent—though the city may still rank with the lowest rate among Waco suburbs.  Waco Tribune-Herald
